Single equality scheme

The promotion of diversity and equality of opportunity is integral to how Cefas operates, both as an employer and as a business. This Single Equality Scheme demonstrates our commitment to these principles and illustrates how Cefas incorporates them into beliefs, attitudes, systems and procedures.

This is our third revision of the scheme and meets our undertaking to review its effectiveness for 2008 and beyond. A further full review will take place after 3 years but we will continue to monitor its effectiveness regularly through the existing structures and policies covered in this document and through a number of new initiatives arising from the review.

The Single Equality Scheme supports our strategy and values, which set out how Cefas can make a difference to the quality of people's lives from both a local and global perspective. This document outlines how Cefas is meeting its legal obligations in relation to its statutory disability, race and gender equality duties, whilst also demonstrating our commitment to those same principles and practices in regard to people's age, sexual preferences, religion or belief.

Diversity and equality are high on Cefas' agenda and we welcome this opportunity to demonstrate our approach to tackling these issues, both internally and externally. Cefas will continue to eliminate unlawful discrimination in respect of race, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion or belief and age by promoting equality of opportunity for all and respect and tolerance for our innate differences.
