The first Marine Stewardship Report ('Safeguarding Our Seas: A Strategy for the Conservation and Sustainable Development of our Marine Environment') set out a framework for action to improve the UK's marine environment. This included a commitment to deliver a joined-up approach to seabed mapping, starting with a workshop to explore how best to take this forward. This workshop (Delivering Integrated Marine Mapping for the UK) took place in September 2002 at Church House in London. It was organised by Cefas as part of a programme of R&D work funded under Defra's Aquatic Environment Commission (Project AE1030).
