Skate: Any species in the order Rajiformes. Although the English names for some skates refer to them as rays, the term ‘ray’ should refer to stingrays (Myliobatiformes) and electric rays (Torpediniformes)

Blonde Skate - Raja brachyura

Blonde skate Raja brachyura is superficially similar to the spotted ray, though the numerous black spots extend to the edges of the disc. There are also more (60-90 rows) teeth in the upper jaw. This species has a patchy distribution, and may be targeted in those areas where it is locally abundant.
