Q. Will fishing under the FSP be counted against any days at sea in areas regulated under recovery measures, such as those for cod and sole?

A. If there is a quota derogation then the logbook details will not be entered on the SFI/Cefas system so there will be no record of the trip for days at sea purposes. No days will be lost under these circumstances. In those cases where fish are to be fished within your allocation or where you would have to use your allocated days we will make that clear in the Invitation to Tender and the days will be reimbursed.

Q. What constitutes a safe working area?

A. Adequate room for measuring board and other sampling equipment to be set up in a dry semi-permanent position. There should be sufficient room for the scientist to sort measure and weigh catch without obstructing the crew's normal fishing and sorting procedures, in a location away from dangerous moving equipment e.g. winches and wires.

Q. What do I do if I have an idea for a project?

A. To suggest new FSP projects or ideas please write to :
