This paper describes the first detection of IPN virus in Norway in 1975. The virus was isolated from yearling rainbow trout on a farm without mortalities or clinical signs of disease during a routine test for the issue of a health certificate. Other farms which had supplied eyed ove to the affected farm all tested negative for the virus. The origin of the infection could not be identified.
