Furunculosis is a devastating hatchery disease caused by the pathogen Aeromonas salmonicida. It requires intensive intervention and control measures. Hatcheries cannot afford the associated mortality, lost staff time, and lowered morale. Sea Farm Washington was able to control the disease in Atlantic salmon( Salmo salar )with a rigorous disinfection and vaccination program.
