Between June 1988 and December 1991, a diagnostic survey to detect fish viruses was carried out in co-operation with rainbow trout farmers, in Spain. Two hundred and fifty eight samples of viscera pools, fingerlings or sexual products of rainbow trout populations were examined from 31 farms. Fish samples were always IHN and VHS free and IPN was the only virus isolated.
