Infectious pancreatic necrosis virus has been isolated from farmed Norwegian turbot, (Scophthalmus maximus) and halibut (Hippoglossus hippoglossus) fry, and from Norwegian scallops (Pecten maximus). All isolates are serotype N1 which has previously only been detected in Norwegian Atlantic salmon. Histological examinations of the turbot and halibut fry revealed pancreatic necrosis indicating that IPNV was the probable causative agent of the mortalities.
