Yersinia ruckeri was isolated for the first time from Atlantic salmon in the UK. The isolate was sorbitol fermenting but did not react with either American serotype II antiserum prepared against an English strain, considered to be serotype I. However, moderate agglutination was seen against American serotype I antiserum.
