In March 1983, an acute bacterial septicemic infection in freshwater pond-cultured Formosa snakehead fish (Channa maculata Lacepede) outbroke in Pingtung Hsein, Taiwan. The affected fish showed no apparent surface lesions, nevertheless, sudden listlessness and subsequent death at the bottom of the pond were the only clinical feature of the epizootic.
