OSPAR - Intersessional Correspondence Group on Eutrophication Modelling (ICG-EMO), 2nd Workshop, Lowestoft, September 2007 (EutMod 2)
The OSPAR Common Procedure was developed by the OSPAR member states in order to achieve a uniform assessment of eutrophication status for the coastal areas within the OSPAR regions based on observations. The Eutrophication Modelling Workshop will be held to assist this assessment by the application of models.
OSPAR has provided three objectives for the next eutrophication modelling workshop:
- To carry out nutrient reduction scenarios for 2002 showing the predicted consequences for selected eutrophication assessment parameters in problem areas with nutrient reductions of 50% (obligatory) and 70%.
- To specify a method to enable improved validation of the models used at the workshop and to allow easier comparison of model results;
- To develop a specification for the application of models for calculation of transboundary nutrient fluxes taking into account results of calculations based on observations that will permit calculation of nutrient budgets for defined areas.
The workshop builds on the first ICG-EMO workshop held at Institut für Meereskunde (IfM), University of Hamburg, Germany.
