Cefas is one of the main sponsors of the Fayre, and has been a regular supporter for many years.

This event continues to thrive and is a major fundraising opportunity for the Fishermen’s Mission. It attracts thousands of visitors to the Lowestoft fish docks every year. There is a variety of family fun and entertainment on offer including demonstrations, trade stands, displays of fresh fish, and other stalls. Visiting boats and ships will be open to the public in the dock.

This year Cefas scientists will be on hand to support a special display on basking sharks, plus there will be a chance for the public to discover more about waves and to see plankton under the microscope like it’s never been seen before.

Superintendent Jim Izzard of the Fishermen’s Mission said, “The resources of the mission, particularly here in Lowestoft, are in great demand and the support given by Cefas is much appreciated”.

TV celebrity chef, Brian Turner, will officially open the 2005 Fayre at 10.15 a.m.

Doors at the Waveney Dock open at 9 a.m. on Saturday 18 June.
