Campus website to be launched

Waveney Campus news release 05/07

Local residents and the business community in and around Lowestoft will soon have easy online access to information about the Waveney Campus project.

A new website is being launched by the Campus partners – Waveney District Council, Suffolk County Council and the Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas) – this Friday, 14 December, at 4pm.

The new website – www.waveneycampus.co.uk – will provide a single site for general information about the project: a flagship administrative building and state-of-the-art laboratory for 1,000 staff from the three partner organisations.

The online site will contain background information on the partners and the reasons for building the complex. In addition it will provide:

  • Answers to frequently asked questions about the Campus
  • Updates on news as the project progresses
  • An artist’s images of the proposed building and, in due course, photographs of the site as the building is being constructed
  • Links for further information about sustainable buildings, and much more.

The website was designed and will be hosted by Waveney District Council on behalf of the partnership. Phil Harris, Waveney’s Communications Manager said: “We are delighted with the look and feel of the website and think the branding will help people to identify the project more easily. In addition, the website will provide instant access for the public to a range of information about the project and will be a home for breaking news, allowing the public to follow the project as it progresses and the Campus gets built.”

The website is the first step in a three-month public communication exercise being drawn up in advance of the submission of the Campus’ planning application.

Local residents, businesses and community groups will soon receive letters and invitations to a series of public exhibitions to be held from January through to March 2008, at four venues around Lowestoft. The exhibition invitation and a feedback form will be posted on the website, and an advertisement campaign publicising the exhibitions will start in early January.
