Young Scientist Award

Jan Balaam, of Cefas, recently won the young scientist award for her platform presentation at the 14th annual meeting of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Analytical Chemistry (SETAC) Europe in Prague. Jan gave a presentation on ‘Toxicity Identification Evaluation (TIE) of produced water discharges into the North Sea’ during the session on the Effects of chemicals in marine and estuarine systems, this was judged to be the best platform presentation of the meeting. The award will give Jan free membership of SETAC for 2005. Unfortunately Jan was not present at the closing ceremony to receive her award. She is pictured here with the plaque.
