Irish sea fish egg surveys - invitation to tender

Tenders are invited for a research vessel to conduct two 12-day ichthyoplankton surveys in the Irish Sea between roughly 53oN and 55oN during the periods 7-18 March and 24 March - 4 April 2008 (with up to 2 days flexibility in starting dates and no less than 5 days between surveys). This project is funded by Defra.

The vessel must be in excess of 30 metres in length, have living/working space for a minimum of 8 scientific staff, and have a slip-ring winch capable of deploying a towed plankton sampler and mounted electronic equipment down to 180m at towing speeds of 3-5 knots in sea states up to force 7.
