Assessment of environmental levels
Managing risks from radioactivity requires accurate measurement of environmental levels. Cefas provides a comprehensive service for the complete assessment of environmental radioactivity from sample collection through to dose assessment.
Cefas advises the UK Government and OSPAR (Oslo & Paris Commission) on radiological standards, legislation and policy. We regularly participate in emergency exercises involving nuclear operators, government and local authorities. Our role is provide advice on the mitigation of the impacts of nuclear incidents.
Laboratory facilities
Our laboratories have experimental facilities found at only a few sites worldwide. We offer a radioanalytical service for alpha, beta and gamma radioactivity on a wide range of samples.
