Reducing carbon dioxide emissions

The Kyoto Protocol (1997) set targets to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases through the use of renewable energy sources. The European Union also promotes the use of renewable energy. In the UK 10% of our electricity is targeted to come from renewable sources by 2010.

Cefas expertise is being used by the UK Government to monitor and advise on the environmental impact of the construction of marine based renewable energy sources:
