Contamination of shellfish with micro-organisms and toxins harmful to human health is a major concern for farmers and consumers.
Cefas is the European Reference Laboratory for monitoring bacteriological and viral contamination of bivalve molluscs. We use our experience to ensure the safety of shellfish for human consumption.
