Jamaican fisheries institutional reform

Description

A Jamaican government funded project to improve fisheries management through institutional reform.  Main objective was to carry out a prior options and strategic review of the Fisheries Division for the Government of Jamaica Ministry of Agriculture. This was undertaken as a precursor to the development of the Fisheries Division into a performance-based institution.

Services

Cefas reviewed all the facilities and operations within Fisheries Division of the Ministry of Agriculture in Jamaica, and with reference to the Government of Jamaica draft fisheries policy document. The findings from this review were presented in a draft Strategic Review.

The Strategic Review is a high level study of the Fisheries Division; its mission, vision, objectives, key outputs and performance indicators. With the draft fisheries policy document, it contributes to the development of a Scheme of Management, including a Modernisation Plan (MP), a Medium Term Financing Plan (MTFP) and a Framework Document (FD).
