Library
The Library was established in the 1920s and has become one of the world’s most extensive collections of publications on fisheries, the marine environment and aquaculture science.
The Library is primarily for Cefas staff, but is available for reference to other research workers and bona fide enquirers by prior appointment. Charges are made for some services. A list of current charges is available on request.
Enquiries are accepted by email, telephone or letter. Simple enquiries can often be answered by one of our publications. We can usually provide an answer or point you in the right direction if you have an enquiry relating to fisheries science, the aquatic and marine environment or aquaculture. Enquiries relating to other aspects of fisheries, such as policy, or agriculture should be directed to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) Helpline (08459 33 55 77, helpline@defra.gsi.gov.uk).
