Research projects for the European Commission

Cefas has for many years provided scientific research services to the European Commission (EC) to support the development of policy, decision making and capacity building.

We are currently involved with over 50 projects, funded by the EC, mainly under the Framework Programmes 5 and 6. Our particular areas of interest are fisheries, aquaculture and the marine environment. 

We have established strong links with other European scientific institutions and universities, with which we collaborate on research and studies. Many of our scientists chair and participate in EC and other European Working Groups.
