Paul manages the programme of work on the management of aquatic non-native species at Cefas Weymouth. Paul has worked at the Weymouth Laboratory since 2005, where he started as an Inspector in the Fish Health Inspectorate. Since 2010 Paul has been developing the research and advisory work on aquatic non-native species at the laboratory.
Paul’s research covers a broad range of subjects relating to the management of aquatic non-native species, including the development of eradication methods, monitoring and surveillance, risk assessments, and effective implementation of biosecurity.
Paul chairs the OSPAR expert working group for non-native species in addition to being the UK technical lead for marine non-native species.
