Aquaculture Science and Ecosystems

The Aquaculture Science and Ecosystems (ASE) team have broad expertise across a range of aquaculture and fishery subject areas that mainly fit within the Seafood Hazards and Food from Water Themes within Cefas. The work includes involvement in the core Defra aquatic animal health research projects, epidemiological impact assessments, data and GIS-driven approaches, spatial mapping and modelling, the provision of aquaculture statistics and aqua-economic assessments of a changing climate. In addition, general advice is provided on areas such as animal welfare and environmental issues that inform stakeholders and policy makers.
