In a coho salmon( Oncorhynchus kisutch )population cultured in raft-cages at the 10th region, Chile, intracytoplasmic inclusion bodies were found in blood. The pathology observed is similar to that of viral erythrocytic necrosis (VEN). Despite its 50% frequency, the infection intensity was low. The mean value of hematocrit was normal. Polycythemia and anemia cases were detected as well as a Renibacterium salmoninarum infection.
