Australian aquaculture has tradionally concentrated on salmonids and oysters, but most forms of aquaculture have become established in recent years or are now under development, with a corresponding range of disease problems. Australia is, however, fortunate in being free of many of the serious infectious diseases of fish and shellfish. This overview summarizes the principal disease problems facing aquaculture in Australia.
