This is the first published report of BKD in Germany. The disease occurred in farmed rainbow trout and coho salmon and was diagnosed soon after the coho were introduced to the farm. The clinical course of the disease was chronic but an unusual feature was prominent lesions in the eyes and skin. BKD was also found in wild rainbow and brown trout inhabiting the stream supplying the farm.
