A disease in Atlantic salmon, characterized by anaemia, has been transmitted to healthy parr by intraperitoneal injection of liver homogenate from typically diseased fish. The disease was also transmitted to control fish kept in the same water tanks as injected fish. Vertical transmission, using egg homogenate from mature brood fish from an affected fish farm could not be demonstrated.
