The occurrence of enteric bacteria in the skin and the organs of freshwater fishes is reported. Of special importance is the isolation of Yersinia ruckeri from trout, carp and eels. Morganella morganii, Citrobacter sp. and Enterobacter sp. were also found. The isolates were biochemically characterized and their antibiotic sensitivity reactions are discussed.
