Mikrocyto roughleyi was identified in moribund Sydney rock oysters (Saccostrea glomerata) in New South Wales. M. roughleyi is considered enzootic in Queensland, but there are no diagnostic submissions. It was last reported from Western Australia in 1996. It has never been reported from South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria or Western Australia despite surveillance activities.
