In April 2002, an epizootic with clinical signs consistent with spring viremia of carp virus (SVCV) occurred in koi( Cyprinus carpio) in a hatchery based in North Carolina. Spring viremia of carp was confirmed by the OIE Reference Laboratory at the CEFAS in Weymouth, United Kingdom.
