Solomon Islands

Ocean Country Partnership Programme

The Solomon Islands, located in the South Pacific, boast a rich and diverse marine environment teeming with coral reefs, mangroves, and marine species. This vibrant ecosystem is vital to coastal communities that depend on them for food, livelihoods, and cultural practices. The archipelago faces significant challenges due to human activities and climate change, which puts pressure on these valuable habitats; poverty remains widespread, greatly affecting the local ability to sustainably manage their natural resources. The government, along with local communities, are actively engaged in conserving the environment through various regulations and traditional stewardship. The OCPP is therefore building on and supporting Initiatives aimed at preserving the marine environment and food security through local capacity building and working towards building greater resilience for coastal communities.

Below, you will find a selection of resources, including published papers and reports, highlighting the progress and outcomes of our work collaborating with Solomon Islands and in region.
