Dr Lianne Harrison

Ocean Modeller - Shelf Seas Modelling team

Lianne is an Ocean Modeller in the Shelf Seas Modelling team at Cefas. She specialises in hydrodynamic and particle tracking modelling, with applications including pollution dispersion, fisheries monitoring, and climate change focused analysis of marine systems. Her work involves interpretation of model outputs to support research into the physical drivers of marine heat waves and understanding their impacts on shelf-sea ecosystems.

Lianne’s background is in physical oceanography. She completed her PhD at the British Antarctic Survey, where her research investigated the impacts of changing ocean temperatures on ice shelf basal melting. She is a member of the ICES Working Group on Oceanic Hydrography, contributing to the ICES Report on Ocean Climate, and is Task Lead for modelling contaminants of emerging concern in coastal areas within the Horizon 2020 CONTRAST project.
