Sophie Armitage

Data Analyst - Epidemiology and Risk Assessment

Sophie is a Data Analyst working within the Epidemiology and Risk Assessment team. Her role encompasses a diverse range of projects aimed at preventing, managing, and controlling invasive species, pathogens and parasites. A significant aspect of her work involves understanding potential emerging risks related to climate change. To achieve this, she is currently working on a project that aims to identify pathogens that may pose new or increasing threats under future climate change scenarios by utilising modelling and risk assessment tools. As a member of the non-native species team, climate change considerations are integral to many of Sophie’s projects, particularly when evaluating which species may be at risk of future introduction and establishment. Sophie’s background is in marine ecology, where she has developed a keen interest in understanding interactions between human activities and the marine environment and how these interactions might shift due to climate change.
