Dr Lily Greig

Ecosystems Statistician - Ecology Group

Lily Greig is an Ecosystems Statistician in the Ecology Group at Cefas, where she works on ecological and ecosystem modelling to understand and project the impacts of climate change on marine systems. Her work focuses on using climate projections to make future predictions of ecosystem dynamics, including the quantification and projection of biodiversity across different ecosystem components. Lily brings a background in physical oceanography and applied mathematics, which she applies across a range of interdisciplinary projects, including species distribution modelling, biodiversity assessments, fisheries and ecosystem models, and ocean connectivity. Her work often bridges physical oceanography and ecology, and she also has an interest in science communication and outreach. She completed her PhD at the University of Reading in polar oceanography and geophysical fluid dynamics, using numerical modelling to study submesoscale processes near the sea ice edge and their representation in climate models.
