Dr Matthew Thomas

Specialist - Ocean Modeller

Matthew is an ocean modeller with experience in applying modelling tools to a broad range of research topics that include the Meridional Overturning Circulation (MOC), tropical Pacific upwelling, and the regional inter-connectivity of marine tracers. Since joining the Shelf Seas Modelling group at Cefas he has become involved in a number of projects broadly with an aim to understand the physical and biogeochemical makeup of coastal and estuarine environments and to model how changes in their conditions might impact regional ecologies. Particular tools have included the use of particle tracking models, global and regional numerical ocean models, as well as a biogeochemical box model.
