Ellen McHarg

Specialist - Environmental Economist

Ellen McHarg is an environmental economist at the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas), with an interest in determinants of pro-environmental preferences and behaviour. Her research focuses on the valuation and management of coastal and marine natural capital and ecosystem services in the UK and internationally. Recently, Ellen has been working on economic and policy considerations surrounding ‘Blue Carbon’ climate regulation services. This has included a study within the Commonwealth Marine Economies Programme, valuing the carbon impacts associated with different plausible scenarios of habitat extent change for seagrasses and mangroves in Small Island Developing States (specifically Grenada) over the next 50 years.
