Matthew Green

Histopathologist

Matthew Green is a long serving Histo-Pathologist at the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas) in the UK. Matt has a solid grounding in diagnostics and integrated sampling techniques having worked in all of the diagnostic disciplines that support the Fish Health Inspectorate. As an experienced lab manager and histologist, he has often worked in an advisory capacity to those wishing to grow skills and capability in the area. Matt is a seasoned fieldworker with leadership experience in multidisciplinary sampling techniques and approaches in the marine environment.

Matt has specific expertise in diagnostic reading of bivalve molluscs, and he has over 20 year’s experience in the diagnosis of diseases of farmed and wild oysters specifically. Matt is involved in many R&D projects looking at diseases of other Bivalve molluscs and he has a special interest in new and emerging mollusc diseases. Matt has co-authored numerous publications.
