Rachel Foster

PhD Student

Rachel is a PhD student at Cefas, The Natural History Museum, and Royal Holloway London University studying pathogens and symbionts associated with non-native invasive aquatic species. Her PhD explores the diversity of pathogens and symbionts which are potentially co-transported with aquatic invasive species, as well as examining the potential implications this should have to policy and legislation surrounding their impacts.

Rachel started her PhD in 2019, completing it part-time whilst also working at the Natural History Museum as Microbiology Lab Manager & Research Support. She has worked at the NHM in this role since 2013, collaborating on joint research projects with links to Cefas prior to the start of her PhD. Before joining NHM she undertook a BSc in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Surrey and an MSc in Medical Microbiology at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
