Gareth Norman

Principal Software Developer

Gareth obtained his MSc from the University of East Anglia, UK in 2005. This involved researching complex image processing algorithms implementation on a computers graphics processing unit. He has 13 years’ experience as a software developer, covering several years in the Cambridge Research and Development sector and Cefas in the Applied Technology group.

Gareth is a senior developer specialising in database driven complex systems, specifically around their use in data capture and compliance with legislation such as the Common Fisheries Policy. This has resulted in him attending many EU conferences around legislation of the fishing industry.

Gareth’s last major project was developing the architecture and software to support the receipt and onward transmission of electronic logbooks for UK, EU and Norwegian commercial fishing vessels. He played a leading role in negotiating data exchange formats and protocols with all the UK devolved Governments and the EU.
