Louise Stockley

Senior Scientist - Microbiology

Louise is a microbiologist at Cefas with over 20 years’ experience of working in a public health-orientated laboratory environment. Louise is responsible for organising and delivering proficiency testing and interlaboratory comparability schemes which support laboratories undertaking Official Control monitoring of bivalve shellfish for bacterial and viral determinations. Louise provides advice to laboratories across the world on the application of methods, laboratory accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025, use of reference materials and quality assurance. Her research interests include various aspects related to shellfish microbiology, including pathogenic vibrios and indicator organisms associated with faecal contamination such as E. coli and male specific bacteriophages.
